Appearance: The Direbear is an oversized bear, you often see in the Redwood Forests, eating honey.

Wild: As a territorial loner who will attack you if you get too close, the Direbear is only enjoyable from a safe distance.

Domesticated:If you have a tamed Direbear, you have a strong fighting animal, which is particularly effective in one-on-one fights.

Since it is immune to bee venom, you can use it easily to harvest honey or for helping with taming giant bees. Due to its immunity, it is also suitable for the fight against the giant bee Bayla, which you have to defeat to get Fenrir.

Taming the Direbear in ARK

How to hunt a Direbear: To prevent the Direbear from tearing you to shreds right after you hit it, you should follow one of the listed safety precautions, before shooting it:

• Stand on a higher position, like a cliff, a large stone, or a rock.
• Use a flying animal on which you can use your weapons to shoot the Direbear while being up in the air, for example, a Griffin.
• Set big bear traps, it will step into when chasing you to get it caught.
• Or use the chain bola to pin it down.

If you retain one of these safety requirements, you can easily shoot it to dreamland.

How to tame him: Once he's unconscious, put the kibble or the honey in its inventory to feed it. For keeping the stun value up, it's best to use anesthetic or narcoberries. Normally, the Direbear won't need any extra sedation.

How to craft the Direbear saddle

To craft the Direbear Saddle, you need to reach level 74 and 40 Engram Points to unlock the recipe. Now you need the following resources:

• 300 Hide
• 130 Fiber
• 100 Cementing Paste or Achatina Paste

How to feed a Direbear in ARK

Once you've tamed your dire bear, it is important to know what it likes to eat. Direbears are omnivores, which makes it easier to choose food because omnivore means: You can offer him meat, berries, vegetables, etc. and he will eat it.

As a sweet tooth, however, the Direbear prefers the following treats:

• Giant Bee Honey
• Superior Kibble
  • Ingredients: 1x Large Egg, 1x Prime Meat Jerky, 2x Citronal, 5x Fiber, 2x Rare Mushroom, 1x Sap, 1x Water
  • Ingredients for Prime Meat Jerky: 1x Cooked Prime Meat, 1x Oil, 3x Sparkpowder
• Kibble (Carnotaurus Egg)
  • Ingredients: 1x Carnotaurus Egg, 1x Savoroot, 1x Cooked Meat, 2x Mejoberry, 3x Fiber, 1x Water

Breeding the Direbear in ARK

This is how you prepare for breeding: If you have a male and female specimen, at best you build an enclosure that is large enough. Put both dinos in the pen and set them to "wander" via the command menu. Alternatively, you can also switch directly to "Pair", but then there must always be a player nearby, otherwise the pairing will stop due to the rendering.

A direbears mating interval is between 18 and 48 hours.

If you play on default settings, the female Direbear is, after a successful mating, pregnant for about 4 hours. After these 4 hours, you can welcome the little Direbear pup. As a pup, it needs about 4.5 hours of your attention, in which you have to put food in its inventory. Pay attention to the embossing intervals every 8 hours to tickle the greatest potential out of the baby.

Once it gains juvenile status, it is able to feed itself through the trough. The entire ripening time is about 1 day and 22.5 hours long.
